Living in God’s presence, living in God’s loving, joyful embrace is possible. It can become a normal part of your everyday life.

In my own quest, during a period of spiritual despair, I received a simple, yet powerful for me, revelation that I needed to love God; I needed to actively practice loving God. This led me on a journey of exploration to find a practical way to practice loving God. This exploration led to “Devotional Breathing.”

It is a simple, yet profound, technique which with sincere effort, brings you closer to God, brings you into a loving communion. A normal, focused practice takes either 15 minutes while sitting or 30 minutes while taking a walk. Three aspects form the technique: the devotional breath, a coaxing process, and an attitude of joyful remembrance. These three aspects, like any new skill, are mastered through repetition. Luckily we breathe a lot, so in a short 15-minute practice, you can get between 150 to 200 ‘breath repetitions.’ Mastering this skill happens quite quickly with a short daily practice.

The truly beautiful, indeed wondrous, outcome of a Devotional Breathing practice is that over time you will start to automatically love God throughout the day as part of your normal breathing. Your breathing becomes a habitual act of loving God. A loving communion will permeate your days, your life.

Loving God is a skill which needs to be nourished, needs to be developed. For only through loving God completely, can we accept and experience God’s complete, infinite love for us.
